New This Year: Trees

Latest News 0 Comment

We have made a special arrangement with a local Pennsylvania Grower to bring in fresh weekly, pre-cut Fraser Fir and other unique varieties of fir Christmas that can’t be found just anywhere. Note: this offering of fresh, high quality and well-priced unique trees is limited to a small quantity.

The new trial varieties for this year include Korean Fir, Corkbark Fir and Veitch Fir – as well as the ever-popular Fraser fir. Provided is a brief description of these special varieties:

  • Korean Fir: a narrow, pyramidal fir with vibrant blue-green color. The undersides of the needles are very waxy, which displays a prominent silver and helps with its excellent needle retention and fragrance.
  • Corkbark Fir: a narrow, naturally open, traditional Christmas tree with a very deep blue needle color. Great fragrance, strong branches and excellent needle retention. Reminds me of the high elevation firs of the western states such as sub-alpine fir and noble fir.
  • Veitch fir: about 10 years ago I grew about 200 of these and once they reached six feet in height the customers wiped them out. With a narrow pyramidal shape, they have a graceful appearance with brush-like needles that are intensely green and have a prominent white striping on the undersides. The species name refers to John Gould Veitch who founded the famous Veitch tree nursery.
